The red panda lives in mountain forests with a bamboo understory, at altitudes generally between 1500 and 4800 meters. As all pandas do, the red panda eats bamboo and rely’s on it as its food source. They are good tree climbers and spend most of their time in trees so trees are something they use often when not foraging. A female red panda picks a location such as a tree hollow, or rock crevice for a maternal den, where she will bear at least one to five babies.. Red pandas are solitary, except for the mating period and the time when a mother and its young are together. This creature resembles the racoon in its size and appearance.
THE PROBLEM Many sentences in this paragraph are word for word from the original source. Use your own words.
The Ailurus fulgens’ status, also known as the red panda, has been changed to endangered. There could only be one reason why these innocent creatures are on the verge of becoming extinct. These creatures are endemic to the temperate forests of the Himalayas, the Red Panda ranges from Nepal in the west to China in the east.
The primary threats to Red Pandas are direct harvest from the wild, competition from domestic livestock resulting in habitat degradation. Deforestation is another aspect that results in habitat loss which leads to death of the red pandas. Deforestation happens whether there are trees being used for fuel or energy, when trees are used as timber to help create houses, and just when the trees are in ones way of creating a farm.
WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM? So if there are no more red pandas left on the planet, how does this impact the environment and the society?
✵ Without these animals in this certain area, there will be none left on the planet.
✵ deforestation will become popular and that could lead to polluted air and a lack of trees in that specific area.
✵ biodiversity is something that’s wanted in all areas. Without this, biodiversity will drop along with tourists and others.
MY SOLUTION Nice job!
1. Stop all deforestation in that area
2. Then call in several environmental experts to examine the life of a red panda
3. Then capture most of its population, including females, to reproduce around their producing time, which is around June.
4. Then take all babies and take care of them so that they all live. After half or a year, in which they will be half way to an adults age, let them all go back into the mountains.
5. Then I would try to enforce an new law in which only a certain amount of deforestation could be done. Then let the red panda population grow and soon they would be able to fix themselves up from there.
6. Then have environmentalists keep their eyes out to make sure that everything is going well.
WHEN SUCCESSFUL...
If these steps are successful, then those countries which had the red panda populations would become richer. There would be so much more tourists to enjoy the environmental factors and how they are still alive, or should have been.
Several jobs would be needed. You would need a whole entire group of environmentalists who specialises in different subcategories. For example, you need someone who specialises in animals, so that would have to do with biology. Then you need some one who specialises in that area. Several different types are needed.
Who knows, if we let this work, the citizens of that country could just as well find a use for the red panda in everyday life.
